The Boll Weevil Café and Sweetery is a cozy café known for its eclectic menu of more than 30 homemade desserts, as well as its Southern-inspired appetizers and entrees. The Boll Weevil offers an array of regional and Southern dishes for lunch and dinner, such as the fried green tomatoes, and shrimp and grits. Pair your meal with one of the Boll Weevil’s many wines, available by the glass and by the bottle.
The Boll Weevil sits near the river in a building that has belonged to the family of owner, George Harrison, since 1919. Its history spans way back to its use as a cotton warehouse from the 1870’s, through to its current incarnation as a favorite downtown destination. Fresh breads and home baked desserts are truly the Boll Weevil’s strength, and the restaurant has been awarded “best of” titles by local publications on several occasions for its desserts. Within a few feet of the Augusta Riverwalk Park and Amptheatre, and minutes from downtown, the Boll Weevil Café invites us all to treat ourselves.
