FAT MAN'S

The Usry family’s business roots run deep throughout Augusta. In the 1940’s, Horace Usry, The Fat Man, took over his father Darnell’s grocery store, changing the name from Sanitary Curb Market to Fat Man’s Corner, which eventually became the beloved Fat Man’s Forest. Brad Usry helmed the success of Fat Man’s Forest, and eventually opened Cotton Row Cafe, Fat Man’s Riverwalk, and Fat Man’s West. Havird – now the Vice President of Operations and Development – grew up in the Cotton Row Café and The Pit helping his dad or Grandmother, Carolyn Usry. The hands-on exposure to life in the kitchen fueled Hav’s passion of business and culinary arts.

Featuring “soul good” soul food, Fat Man’s is renowned for its southern fare, including the best squash casserole in town. Now located at historic Enterprise Mill, Fat Man’s Mill Cafe has enjoyed widespread demand, and major growth. Brad and Hav’s goal is to bring southern hospitality to the world through their lunches, catering, venues and service, and they keep doing just that, one dish at a time.
