When someone says “hidden gem” they’re referring to something special worth discovering. Hildebrandt’s is Augusta’s hidden gem. Family-owned, this German-inspired deli is infused with a generous helping of southern hospitality. An Augusta destination since 1879, Hildebrandt’s originally operated as a local grocery store by the Hildebrandt family. Throughout the years, much has changed, but the original location still welcomes people through its doors on 6th Street.
By popular demand, Hildebrandt’s began serving deli lunches in the later part of the 20th century, and a dining area and gift shop evolved throughout the large, double-gabled building. Now run by the much-loved Luanne, Hildebrandt’s boasts some of the most incredibly delicious sandwiches (and German Potato Salad) in town. Customers can select a signature sandwich from the menu - the Sweet Heat Louis and the Reuben are definitely worth having at least once, if not many times – special entrées and desserts. The deli’s tightknit crew invites customers to create new memories over wonderful food, and the slogan says it all: Part German. Part South. All Welcome.
