Augusta has been without a local brewery since prohibition times, but thankfully things have changed. Among the first to foment that change was Riverwatch Brewery, owned and operated by Brey Sloan and daughter, Anne. After brewing her own beer for more than 20 years, and completing an apprenticeship at the Bayern Meister Bier Brewery in Fujinomiya, Japan, Brey dedicated herself to bringing craft beer to the Augusta region. As the Brewery came to life Anne joined her mother; the two make a formidable team, operating a welcoming brewery and tasting room replete with classes, events and trivia night.
Riverwatch Brewery is located on the site of the old Augusta market, off Gordon Highway near Walton Way. The Brewery is dog-friendly and kid-friendly, and guests are invited to bring food to enjoy out on the deck while they enjoy their drink. As well as four core brews and a rotating menu of limited releases and special brews, the Brewery offers guided tours of the facility, a membership program, and a military/first responder discount.
