After owner, Brad Stone, couldn’t find a local source
to provide the fresh-roasted coffee beans that he
loved, Stone started home-roasting. First he did it for
himself, then to provide coffee to churches on Sunday
mornings. Inevitably, he was essentially forced to
open his eponymous café to keep up with demand. At that point, Stone Roastery was
born, and Brad Stone was a rock star.
Stone starts with 100 percent top-grade Arabica beans from small plantations around the world. The beans make their way to North Augusta, where they are roasted in-house. Finally, they are served in a huge variety of ways—there are traditional pour-over coffees… cold brews… espresso concoctions… flat whites… breves… affogatos—you name it. The beans are for sale in the store, or you can be order your favorite style of roast online.
The roadside roastery achieves a quirky, laid-back vibe with its interesting brew of hip beverages, collection of comforting cakes baked by Brad’s mom and wife, and welcoming southern manners and décor. A trip to Stone Roastery is a feast for the eyes and the palate.
