Abel Brown, a southern kitchen and oyster bar
located in Surrey Center, is renowned for its
authentic approach to Southern cuisine. The
name, Abel Brown, is a nod to and celebration of
the restaurant’s blended cultural roots. Originally a traditional folk ballad about the
everyday man, Abel Brown has become synonymous with modern cuisine delivered
with the charm and tradition reserved for high company.
Abel Brown is the brainchild of Todd Schafer, an experienced chef who brings more than just good food to the table. Inspired by his mother’s cooking, Todd ventured into the kitchen at the age of 15 and never left. His career took him to Atlanta where he worked at Ciboulette under Chefs Jean Banchet and Thomas Coohill, as well as Provence at Washington D.C., and Pinot Blanc in the Napa Valley.
